Ontario Hunter Education Program (HEP)
Successful completion of the Hunter Education Program is the first requirement in obtaining an Ontario hunting license. Topics covered in the HEP include:

Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC)

The Firearms Act requires all individuals wishing to acquire non-restricted firearms (primarily rifles and shotguns) to pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Exam. Topics covered in the CFSC include:

The evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions
Basic firearms safety practices
Ammunition
Operating firearm actions
Safe handling and carry procedures
Firing techniques and procedures
Care of non-restricted firearms
Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
Safe storage, display, transportation and handling of non-restricted firearms.


Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC)

The Firearms Act requires all individuals wishing to acquire restricted firearms (primarily handguns) to pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Exam and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Exam. Topics covered in the CRFSC include:

Operating handgun actions
Firing techniques and procedures for handguns
Care of restricted firearms


One-Stop Combo Course (HEP and CFSC combined)
In the One-Stop combo course you will receive combined training for both the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and the Hunter Education Safety course.


Combo Supreme Course (HEP, CFSC and CRFSC)
In the Combo Supreme course you will receive combined training for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course and the Hunter Education Safety course.


Exam Information
The CFSC, CRFSC and HEP examinations consist of a written and a practical component. Students will have an opportunity to take the exam(s) immediately following the class. Arrangements can be made to take the exam at a later date if more study time is desired. Arrangements can also be made to challenge the CFSC and CRFSC exams without attending the course.
